PhD projects shortlisted for funding by EnvEast: Currently Recruiting

Applications are now open for our studentship competition, and our PhD opportunities for entry in 2018 are advertised below.

All have been shortlisted for funding by the EnvEast NERC Doctoral Training Partnership, and eligible candidates applying for these projects will be entered into EnvEast's studentship competition (see the Apply pages for more details).

Students may apply for up to three EnvEast projects each year.

Once you have found a project or projects you wish to apply for, please read our Apply pages. Applications are made to the university at which you will be registered for your PhD (i.e., the University of East Anglia, University of Essex, or University of Kent).

You may particularly wish to note that CASE studentships carry an additional £1,000 per year funding (minimum), which is added to the research and training support grant for the studentship and can therefore be spent on research and training costs associated with the PhD. CASE students will spend a minimum of 3 months on placement with the CASE partner during the studentship.

If you have strong mathematical skills (e.g. you are a graduate in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, etc) but little prior experience of study in the environmental sciences, then you should note our new scheme whereby an additional 3 months' studentship funding may be provided to allow you to undertake additional training. If you wish to be considered for this funding, you should make clear in your application what strengths make you suitable for consideration for the particular project(s) you are applying for.

The deadline for applications is 8 January 2018.
